In just 40 years, a small village turned into the 4th largest city in Iceland. At that time, all the work and life of the city revolved around the herring. It was the gold rush of Icelandic history. People came here to earn money from all over Iceland and neighboring Scandinavia. It’s a truly picturesque and stunningly beautiful harbor. Next, we will visit the herring museum, which delves deeply into the unique history of the herring gold rush times, experiencing actual factories and extensive photo histories. Then, we will move to a brewery, where we will have a degustation of Seagull 67 brewery (1 hour, 4-5 different beers) and lunch. If you wish, you can relax in beer baths at the beer spa. DAY 6 EAST FJORDS AND LOBSTERS

Hvalnes - Vestrahorn - Viking village - Hofn

Deep fjords along the coast are a characteristic feature of East Iceland. Most of the settlements in this area are located on the shores of just such fjords. The shores of the fjords turned out to be a convenient place for harbors in which numerous fishing vessels were located. Höfn is the biggest city in the region, additionally known for being the one and only lobster capital of Iceland. In this region, we will see National reserves Hvalnes, which means whale peninsula, and “Horny mountain” - Vestrahorn, Eystrahorn, and Brunnhorn mountain, aka Batman mountain. It’s perfect places for taking pictures of the extraordinary mountains and ocean. Dinner will be in a traditional fishing restaurant in Hofn where you can taste lobsters, Atlantic tuna, cod, lamb, or even horse for the more adventurous gastronomes.

Jökulsárlón - Diamond beach - Fjaðrárgljúfur canyon - Vik

In the morning, we will drive to an area where blockbuster movies were filmed such as Batman, James Bond, and Lara Kroft. Experience the glacier lagoon filled with miniature icebergs and large blocks of ice. This ice lagoon has become one of the most popular attractions in Iceland due to its breathtaking beauty. The lagoon is called Jökulsárlón, or ice lagoon in Icelandic. If we are lucky, we will see seals on icebergs. Then our tour takes us to Diamond Beach with large pieces of ice strewn along black sands. Glittering ice diamonds in the sun. Today, we will discover the South coast of Iceland. We will start from the small village Vik with famous rock formations named Troll’s fingers. Then we will move to Reynisfjara black sand beach. This Icelandic beach owes its black color to the nearby volcanoes. During a large number of eruptions, a huge amount of lava poured onto the surface. This lava formed the entire island of Iceland. For many thousands of years, sea waves destroyed coastal rocks turning lava into magnificent beaches. And at the end of the day, we will try to walk behind Seljalandfoss waterfall. Dinner will be in a Viking restaurant with arctic char or local duck and lamb.
